SANTA ANITA’S TED MALLOY DISCUSSES NEW TRACK, COMPOSITION, TRAINING PROFILE INCLUDED
ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2010)—The status of Santa Anita’s new, all natural dirt main track, which will open for training this Monday at 4:30 a.m. will be discussed in an interview with Ted Malloy, Santa Anita’s main track construction Project Manager. The interview with Malloy was conducted Friday afternoon at Santa Anita.
The main track project was undertaken in October and has seen the removal of Santa Anita’s synthetic main track, which had been in place for live racing from September of 2007 through April 18 of 2010.
The natural dirt in place now consists of 90 percent sand and 10 percent clay. Malloy offers advice to horsemen on how to approach the new surface on Monday and contrasts the surface with others in Southern California.
The Ted Malloy interview can be seen at www.santaanita.com and on YouTube. The video has been distributed through Santa Anita’s social media. Those wishing to follow Santa Anita through social media can access Santa Anita on either Facebook or Twitter.
Santa Anita’s traditional winter/spring meeting will open on Dec. 26, with first post time at 12 noon.
