ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2011)—Santa Anita Park has announced that it will be installing state-of-the-art video boards in its infield and paddock areas which will be operational opening day, Dec. 26. These boards will carry live satellite broadcast feeds of all post parades and racing at Santa Anita and will also keep fans up to date on current odds and major stakes races which are broadcast from throughout North America.

“One of our top priorities is to continually work to improve the on-track experience for our fans,” said Santa Anita Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Quinn. “The Big Board in the infield is going to be fantastic. It will measure 53’ x 29’ and it’s manufactured by Daktronics. The resolution it projects is the best in the world today and it will enhance everyone’s day at the races.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2011)—The Ruth and Charles Gilb Arcadia Historical Museum has announced the creation of “And They’re Off!!,” an exhibit chronicling the historical impact of Santa Anita Park on the city of Arcadia and its impact on the community at-large. The exhibit, which is fully entitled “And They’re Off!! Euphemera and Images of Santa Anita Park,” is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Nov. 12, and will remain open through Jan. 21.

Santa Anita Paddock Guard John Shear will be a featured speaker for the exhibit’s opening and will be available for interviews and questions.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2011)—Santa Anita’s inaugural 24-day Autumn Meet concluded Sunday, as The Great Race Place stood tall in the face of declining industry revenues, posting significant gains in on-track attendance, handle and in average-per-race field size when compared to like racing dates the past two years.

Average field size for the meet was 8.8 horses per race, a significant increase from 2009, when field size was 7.7 horses per race.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2011) – Gaining her fourth victory in her last five starts, rapidly ascending 4-year-old filly All Star Heart gained her first graded stakes win Sunday with a dominant triumph in Santa Anita’s 42nd running of the Grade II, $150,000 Las Palmas Stakes for fillies and mares at one mile on turf.

Under the direction of jockey Brice Blanc, All Star Heart made a swooping move rounding the far turn to advance from fifth to first by the time the field of five had straightened away in midstretch.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2011) – Acclamation, a late-maturing son of Unusual Heat who reeled off five straight graded stakes victories including the Grade II Clement L. Hirsch Turf Championship on Oct. 2, was named Horse of the Meet in the first Santa Anita Autumn media poll.

Acclamation also was named Outstanding Grass Horse.

November 5, 2011, Arcadia,Ca. --- Three-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez watches as the horses get ready to race during a special boxing exhibition at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia,Ca.

Marquez is preparing for his upcoming third mega-fight against superstar Manny Pacquiao.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with MP Promotions, Marquez Boxing, Tecate and MGM Grand, Pacquiao - Marquez III will take place, Saturday, Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and be produced and distributed by HBO Pay Per View.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2011) – It took the length of the stretch for favored John Johny Jak to get past determined 43-1 longshot Assessment, but the 3-2 choice arrived in the shadow of the wire Saturday to take Santa Anita’s $70,150 Lure Stakes by a nose.

Under a vigorous ride by Victor Espinoza, John Johny Jak ran the one-mile distance on turf in 1:35.44 to build upon a third-place finish behind Breeders’ Cup Mile competitors Jeranimo and Mr. Commons in the Grade II Oak Tree Mile on Oct. 8.

“I thought it was going to be easy at the top of the stretch,” said Espinoza.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2011) – When Santa Anita concludes it 24-day Autumn Meet on Sunday, the action will be buoyed by a Pick Six carryover of $55,422. Being closing day, there will be a mandatory payout to those with the most winners if nobody correctly selects all six.

Longshot winners in the first four legs of Saturday’s Pick Six ($20.60, $16.60, $39.20 and $44.60) sent the exotic wager into carryover territory.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2011) – Rapidly developing 3-year-old filly Include Me Out made short work of Santa Anita’s $50,964 Tizna Purse on Friday when she cruised to a 3 ½-length victory over longshot Kindle while negotiating six furlongs in 1:09.52 over a track labeled “good.”

Veteran Joe Steiner, filling in for regular rider Joe Talamo who was at the Breeders’ Cup, hardly moved while sitting atop the 17-10 favorite who took command in midstretch of the competition for fillies and mares and drew clear.
