ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) _ Amazombie circled the field at the top of the stretch and took the lead on his way to a three-quarters of a length victory in the $250,000 Ancient Title Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday, while The Factor faded to fourth.

Amazombie ran six furlongs in 1:08.24 to earn an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Sprint next month at Churchill Downs. He paid $8.60, $3.60 and $6.60 at 3-1 odds.

Jeranimo won the $150,000 Oak Tree Mile, which could lead to a start in the BC Mile.

In the Ancient Title, Irrefutable returned $5.40 and $12.60, while Mensa Heat was another head back in third. Sent off as the overwhelming 2-5 favorite, The Factor had the lead approaching the quarter pole only to fade down the stretch.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2011)—Fans heading to the races on Sunday at Santa Anita will be welcomed by a Pick Six carryover of $86,558 and it’s expected the total pool on Sunday could exceed $500,000.

Saturday’s Pick Six began with race five and was immediately thrown asunder as longshot El Adelantado, under Kayla Stra, won easily and returned $118 on a $2 win ticket. Owned by La Bahia Stud, Inc., the 6-year-old Texas-bred gelding is trained by Leonard Powell.

Sunday’s Pick Six will cover races four through nine and will be highlighted by the $65,000 added Louis R.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2011) – Improving 3-year-old filly Anniversary Girl validated her 17-10 favoritism Friday with a one-length victory over Last Sting in Santa Anita’s $50,038 Desert Island Purse for fillies and mares at one mile on turf.

With Joel Rosario in the irons, Anniversary Girl rallied from next to last in the field of 10 to take control in the final sixteenth while running the distance in 1:35.84. Last Sting edged Born Lucky for the place by a neck.

The winner paid $5.40, $3.40 and $2.80. Last Sting, ridden by Alonso Quinonez, returned $8.80 and $5.80.

Rowan Stakes at 6 ½ furlongs on the main track.

Arcadia, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2011)-- Several management and operations responsibilities at Santa Anita Park are being reorganized as part of an ongoing restructuring of management of the facility to gain operational efficiencies and to help position the landmark horse racing facility for future growth, track officials announced today. The reorganization includes merging of some departments, streamlining of finance and operations departments and a reduction in management and seasonal workforce, officials said.
