ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 26, 2012) – After having been entered and established as the 5-2 morning line favorite in Saturday’s $100,000 Valentine Dancer Stakes at one mile on turf, Unzip Me instead is likely to stick with her familiar distance of 6 ½ furlongs over Santa Anita’s hillside turf course in Sunday’s $70,000 Wishing Well Stakes.

“It looked like there was a lot of pace in there on Saturday,” trainer Marty Jones said in favoring the downhill sprint layout over which the speedy 6-year-old mare has won 6 of 10 starts.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (January 26, 2012) – The Breeders’ Cup today unveiled the official event logo for the 29th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park, in Arcadia, Calif., on November 2-3, 2012. The 2012 World Championships will mark the sixth time that Santa Anita will host the event, returning for the first time since back-to-back years in 2008 and 2009. The 2011 World Championships were held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2012) – Caracortado, who recently staged one of the most stunning stretch runs in track history, and swiftly developing Grade I winner Teddy’s Promise will be in action Saturday when Santa Anita presents its10-race Sunshine Millions Day that includes five stakes races and starts at 12 noon.

Teddy’s Promise will attempt to replicate her authoritative triumph in the Grade I La Brea Stakes for 3-year-olds on New Year’s Eve when returning at the same seven-furlong distance in Saturday’s Grade I, $300,000 Santa Monica Stakes for fillies and mares.

But the horse that had pulses stirring like none other so far this Santa Anita meet is 5-year-old California-bred Caracortado, whose torrid closing rush in the Grade III Daytona Stakes on Jan. 8 even confounded such a keen race observer as iconic track announcer Trevor Denman.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2012)—Santa Anita Park has announced it will host a $15,000, two-day Double-Down Challenge handicapping tournament on March 10 & 11. In addition to a first-place cash prize of $10,000, the tournament which will be limited to 80 entries, will also offer four slots to the 2013 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas and one entry in the $400,000 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge.

Each entrant will put up a $1,000 live-money bankroll and pay a $500 entry fee. There is a maximum of two entries per person.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2012)—Santa Anita Park and Gulfstream Park will celebrate the HBO series LUCK with a special Pick Six wager on Sunshine Millions Day, Saturday, Jan. 28. The one dollar minimum wager will have a guaranteed pool of $250,000 and will feature three races from Santa Anita and three from Gulfstream Park. HBO’s LUCK, the highly anticipated racetrack-themed series based at Santa Anita and starring Dustin Hoffman will premier the following night, Jan. 29.

First post time on Millions Day is 12 noon. The LUCK Pick Six will begin at approximately 1:10 p.m. with Gulfstream’s eighth race. It will conclude with Santa Anita’s sixth race, which will be run at approximately 2:37 p.m. All six races will be stakes races.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 22) – Include Me Out escaped the shadow of Grade I winning stablemate Teddy’s Promise Sunday with a burst around the far turn that expanded into a dominant 4 ¼ -length upset in Santa Anita’s 38th running of the Grade II, $150,000 La Canada Stakes for 4-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2012)—Santa Anita Park will present its 10th annual Sunshine Millions Day on Saturday, Jan. 28, with a California Food Truck Festival, California Craft beers, a Miss Sunshine Millions Bikini Contest and live entertainment by Shiny Toy Guns, DJ Set Feat, Jeremy Dawson and Carah Faye all heading up an action-packed entertainment offering in the track’s spacious infield area.

“With everything we have going on, this is going to be a mega-California Food Truck Festival,” said Santa Anita’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Quinn.
