NEW YORK (August 1, 2012) –The Breeders’ Cup and HRTV today announced a multi-year media rights agreement which makes HRTV the official simulcast partner of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and the preferred Horse Racing Network provider of the event.

The Breeders’ Cup, Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious global event, consisting of 15 races with purses totaling more than $25 million, will be held on November 2-3 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

ARCADIA, Cal. (July 30, 2012)—Stall applications for Santa Anita’s 2012 Autumn Meet are available to horsemen now at Santa Anita, Del Mar, Hollywood Park and on-line at Applications are due Friday, Aug. 10.

Santa Anita’s Autumn Meet gets underway on Friday, Sept. 28 and the 24-day stand will be highlighted by the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 2 & 3. Closing day is Nov. 4.

Horsemen are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.

CHICAGO – July 17, 2012 – Collectors of horse racing art should be jockeying for position to buy an original oil painting currently on display in a Santa Fe, N.M., gallery. All proceeds from the sale of the painting, which portrays thoroughbreds exercising at the famed Santa Anita Park in California, will benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).

The work, titled “Morning Exercise—Santa Anita,” is by award-winning fine artist, Terri Kelly Moyers.

ARCADIA, Calif. (July 13, 2012)—Santa Anita Park, which will host the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 2 & 3, has announced name changes for a total of 14 stakes, six of them Grade I events, effective with the opening of the 2012 Autumn Meet on Sept. 28.

“This has been an important process for all of us involved with live racing here at Santa Anita,” said Rick Hammerle, Santa Anita Vice President of Racing. “We did a lot of research and tried hard to make sure each name had a tangible meaning, either geographically, historically or culturally. We feel good about the new names and we’d like to sincerely thank all of our fans that participated in the ‘Name That Stakes Contest’ to rename the former Harold C. Ramser, Sr. Stakes. It will now be the Grade III Autumn Miss Stakes and will be run on Oct. 27.

“We’re also excited to be honoring one of the all-time best Cal Breds, with the Lava Man Cal Cup Classic on Oct. 13.”

ARCADIA, Calif. (July 3, 2012)—The Association, world-renowned for classic 1960s hits “Cherish,” “Windy,” “Never My Love,” and “Along Comes Mary,” will make a highly anticipated appearance in conjunction with the California Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, July 14 at Santa Anita Park, beginning at 8 p.m. in the storied track’s infield area.

Cal Phil’s “Festival on the Green” concert series, at the direction of Maestro Victor Vener, with a guest appearance by noted pop singer Vanessa Carlton, got off to a rollicking start on June 30 and it is expected their second performance on July 14 will generate a huge nighttime crowd as attendees enjoy a host of amenities including fine dining, full cocktail service and reserved seating on the infield lawn.

ARCADIA, Calif. (June 21, 2012)—Eddie Delahoussaye, widely regarded as one of the greatest riders of all time, will be so recognized on opening day of Santa Anita’s Autumn Meet on Sept. 28, as The Great Race Place will card the inaugural Grade III “Eddie D. Stakes” for 3-year-olds and up at 6 ½ furlongs down the Camino Real Turf Course.

A revered member of racing’s Hall of Fame and a two-time winner of the Kentucky Derby, Delahoussaye won the race’s precursor, the Morvich Stakes, in 1984 with the Eddie Gregson-conditioned Tsunami Slew.

“This is a great honor,” said Delahoussaye, who resides in Arcadia with his wife, Juanita, daughter Mandy, son Loren and sister Rose Ann, and is active in the Thoroughbred business as a racing and sales consultant. “My family is very excited about it and I am too. This race has a rich history and I want to thank Santa Anita for thinking of me.

A star-studded party has been scheduled to raise funds for two charities that help disabled jockeys and others involved in horse racing.

The inaugural “Jockey for a Cause” Charity Event will take place July 18, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. (PDT) at the DeHaven Estate in Rancho Santa Fe, following opening day races at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, California.

The party will be hosted by California horse owner Jeff DeHaven, who promises one of the best West Coast parties of the year.
