Taste of LA, Fascinator and Fedora Fashion Event Highlight Breeders’ Cup Events

ARCADIA, Calif. (September 17, 2012) - The Breeders’ Cup announced today that a limited quantity of reserved seats remain for the two-day international festival of racing, Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3, at Santa Anita Park, as advanced sales have outpaced 2008 and 2009, the last time the event was held in Southern California. The 29th Breeders’ Cup, Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious global event, consists of 15 races with purses and awards totaling more than $25 million. First race post time on Championship Friday is 11:15 a.m. PT.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 10, 1012)—Retired Hall of Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye will be honored with the inaugural “Eddie D Stakes” on opening day of Santa Anita’s Autumn Meet on Sept. 28, and the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a beautiful collector’s item booklet entitled “Eddie D. Career Highlights,” which is replete with color photos of the great Delahoussaye taken throughout his remarkable career. Delahoussaye will be on hand to sign memorabilia from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

“Eddie D. was one of the greatest jockeys to ever compete here at Santa Anita and he remains one of the most popular riders with our fans, to this day,” said Santa Anita CEO Mark Verge. “It’s a great privilege for us to not only name our opening day stakes race for him, but to be able to share with our fans some great photos of Eddie that were taken over a period of many years.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2012)—Santa Anita’s stable area and main track have reopened for training following a seven-week closure for routine maintenance during the Del Mar race meeting, which concluded on Wednesday.

A number of major stables, including those of Bob Baffert, Bruce Headley, Vladimir Cerin, Bill Spawr, Richard Mandella, John Sadler and David Hofmans, have returned to The Great Race Place in anticipation of Santa Anita’s 24-day Autumn Meet, which opens on Friday, Sept. 28 and which will be highlighted by the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 2 & 3.

The opening day feature is the Grade III Eddie D Stakes, named for legendary retired Hall of Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye, is for 3-year-olds and up going 6 ½ furlongs down the Camino Real Turf Course.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2012)—The popular 626 Night Market returns for its third event this fall at its new home at Santa Anita Park for two consecutive nights on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free of charge and the events will be staged in Santa Anita’s spacious infield area.

On both nights, the largest Asian night market in America will feature Asian street foods and a bevy of local businesses and new entrepreneurs.

Ground Breaking in 2013 to Create Several Hundred Construction Jobs

ARCADIA, (Aug. 27, 2012)—Today, veteran local real estate developer, Dick Hale announced the creation of a new four story 72,000 square foot, state of the art medical office building adjacent to the recently expanded Methodist Hospital in Arcadia. The project is a joint venture between The Hale’s and The Stronach Group, owner of Santa Anita Race Track.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 21, 2012)—For the second consecutive year, Santa Anita Park will host the local American Youth Soccer Organization’s (AYSO) Opening Day event this Saturday, Aug. 25.

Hosted by Arcadia’s AYSO Region 2, the event attracted more than 3,000 parents, players and local residents last year and is scheduled to “kickoff” this Saturday at 10 a.m. in Santa Anita’s spacious Infield area.

Opening ceremonies will feature a parade of all players in Region 2’s U5, U6, U7, U8 and U10 divisions.

Becomes Official Wagering Partner of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships; Secures Title Sponsorship of Breeders’ Cup Sprint

NEW YORK (August 14, 2012) – Breeders’ Cup and Xpressbet, LLC, one of the industry’s largest and most respected Advance Deposit Wagering (‘ADW’) providers, today announced a multi-year agreement which makes Xpressbet the official Wagering Partner of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and the title sponsor of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 14, 2012)—Santa Anita Park has announced a 28-event stakes schedule worth over $4 million in purses for its 24-day Autumn Meet which begins Sept. 28. The meet offers one of the world’s most lucrative stakes programs which will be keynoted by six Grade I “Win and You’re In” Breeders’ Cup prep stakes, five of which will be run on Saturday, Sept. 29, with the remaining Grade I event to be run Saturday, Oct. 6.

The meet will reach a crescendo with the two-day, $25.5 million Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 2 & 3, and will conclude the following day, Sunday, Nov. 4.
