ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2012)—Saturday’s Grade III, $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes, for 3-year-old fillies at one mile on turf, shapes up as one of the best betting races of the meet as an evenly matched field of 11 have signed up for Santa Anita’s weekend headliner.

Although she’ll break from the extreme outside, Glen Hill Farm’s Customer Base figures to be taken off the pace early and will hope to save ground and come running late under Garrett Gomez. Trained by Tom Proctor, the Kentucky-bred daughter of Lemon Drop Kid rallied from far off the pace to win a turf allowance going 1 1/16 miles on July 27 at Del Mar. She also rallied from off the pace in the one mile turf Sandy Blue Handicap on Aug 17, running fifth, beaten one length, in a six-horse field.

ARCADIA, Calif. (October 24, 2012) – Led by multiple grade I winner Game On Dude, defending Ladies’ Classic champion Royal Delta, dominating turf stars Wise Dan and Point of Entry, and 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, 180 horses, including eight defending or former Breeders’ Cup Champions, have been pre-entered for the 2012 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

The 29th Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious global event, consisting of 15 races and purses totaling more than $25 million over the two days, will be held at Santa Anita Park for the sixth time on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3. There will be six Breeders’ Cup races on Championship Friday and nine Breeders’ Cup races on Championship Saturday.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2012)—More than 40,000 people, primarily Asian-American families, attended the 626 Night Market in Santa Anita’s Infield area over the weekend, making the two-day event a rousing success, as The Great Race Place intensifies its efforts to expand its fan-base by reaching out to the local Asian community.

More than 80 food vendors and 70 retail vendors set up shop in the Infield and greeted visitors on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2012)—As promised by trainer Peter Miller, Comma to the Top and Corey Nakatani went straight to the lead in Sunday’s featured $65,000, one-mile Big Bear Handicap at Santa Anita, and the 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding never relinquished command, winning by a half-length while getting the distance in 1:35.98.

“The plan was to go to the lead,” said Nakatani, who also celebrated his 42nd birthday on Sunday. “He’s got speed and that’s what he likes best. I was a little concerned about his fitness today at this distance, but he was ready.”

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2012)—A Pick Six carryover of $60,928 will await fans on Sunday at Santa Anita and it’s expected the total pool will exceed $400,000 by fourth race post time.

A total of 69 horses have been entered to run in races four through nine on Sunday, for an average Pick Six field size of 11.5 horses per race.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2012)—Although it looked a bit hopeless a furlong from home, Garrett Gomez and Broken Dreams persevered and managed to collar pacesetter Kindle close home to successfully defend their title by a half-length in Saturday’s Grade III Senator Ken Maddy Stakes going 6 ½ furlongs on turf at Santa Anita.

Kindle, who shot to the lead at the top of the hillside course and set blistering fractions of 20.97, 42.53 and 1:05.30, was five lengths clear of Broken Dreams when crossing the dirt at the top of the lane.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2012)--MGM and Santa Anita will present an exclusive IMAX sneak preview of the newest James Bond movie, “Skyfall,” on Monday, Oct. 29, in Arcadia at the AMC theaters adjacent to Santa Anita Park. The film does not open in theaters until Nov.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2012)—Little Emily, with David Flores aboard, altered tactics and went straight to the lead and never looked back at 5-1, taking Friday’s featured $53,000 Modesto Purse at Santa Anita by a half-length, getting 1 1/8 miles on turf in 1:47.33.

Although Flores had taken her off the pace in the one mile turf Swingtime Stakes on Oct. 6, he decided a change was in order in the Modesto.
