ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 18, 2010)—The Los Angeles County Sanitation District will conduct a household hazardous waste and e-waste collection roundup at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, Aug. 21. Santa Anita’s Colorado Parking Lot (Gate 6), located north of the track’s infield and accessible by taking Colorado Place off of either Baldwin Ave. to the west, or Santa Anita Ave. to the east, will serve as the site location.

San Gabriel Valley residents are encouraged to bring materials such as paints, solvents, pesticides, etc, to the Colorado Lot between the hours of 9 a.m.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 13, 2010)—Santa Anita Park, in conjunction with a number of Southern California-based trade organizations, will host the International Special Events Society’s (ISES) 2010 Los Angeles Joint Allied Mixer (JAM) on Tuesday, Sept. 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 9:30 p.m.
ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 13, 2010)—Santa Anita Park announced today that it will provide its facility to Foothill Unity Center for its annual Back to School Distribution event on Thursday, Aug. 19, in the Top of the Stretch area.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2010)—Santa Anita Park will host the annual Pasadena Greek Festival over a three-day period, Sept. 17, 18 and 19, with authentic Greek food, live music, dancing, an expanded children’s fun zone, arts and crafts, and a raffle with more than $10,000 in prizes offered.

ARCADIA, Calif. (July, 27, 2010)—Santa Anita Park, which closed this past Sunday for training for the first time in two years, and which will host the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting beginning Sept. 29, began repair work on its synthetic main track on Monday and embarked upon significant scheduled maintenance of its stable area as well.

ARCADIA, Calif., (July 15, 2010)—As was announced in Daily Variety Thursday morning, Home Box Office (HBO) has committed “Luck,” a cutting-edge depiction of life on the racetrack, to an inaugural season, with shooting to commence at Santa Anita either this fall or early in 2011. Highly placed executives at HBO have indicated that “Luck’s” first season will consist of a pilot and seven to nine additional weekly episodes.

ARCADIA, Calif. (July 6, 2010)—Santa Anita Park’s Amy Zimmerman has been chosen as one of 25 “Women of Influence” by The Thoroughbred Times, in the publication’s July 3, 2010 weekly issue. Zimmerman, who serves as Santa Anita’s Vice President, Business Coordination and as Director of Broadcasting, was selected from a group of 100 candidates. She has worked at Santa Anita since 1986.

ARCADIA, Calif. (June 10, 2010)—Legendary big-money rider Donald Pierce, Michael “Buster” Millerick, who gained his greatest fame as the long-time conditioner of Hall of Fame gelding Native Diver, and champion colt Harry Bassett, winner of the 1871 Belmont Stakes, were selected for induction to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, it was announced Wednesday by the Hall’s Historic Review Committee.

Arcadia, CA, June 9 -- HRTV (R) has received 2009 Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Award nominations in two categories: "Sports -- One Time Special" and the "Documentary -- Cultural/Topical."

The Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards encompasses Kentucky, and the Awards ceremony is slated for Saturday, July 31 in the Easton Town Center in Columbus, OH. Both of HRTV's nominations were productions of its popular newsmagazine show, "Inside Information."
