Xpressbet Proudly Supports the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund

$25,000 Donation and Fundraising Campaign kicks off Breeders’ Cup Season

September 30, 2014 (Washington, PA) – Leading online wagering provider, Xpressbet, continues to support and bring awareness to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).  Xpressbet has pledged a $25,000 donation to the PDJF and encourages its customers and the entire racing community to donate to this cause.

The PDJF provides financial assistance to 60 former jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries.  Through the tireless efforts of its Board, as well as through the generous donations it has received, the Fund has disbursed over $5 million to permanently disabled jockeys.

“It is very important to us that we give back to the industry,” said Xpressbet President, Ron Luniewski.  “Xpressbet and The Stronach Group are deeply invested in the long-term success of horse racing, and we strongly feel that the jockeys are an integral part of the industry’s success.  The Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund is an organization that supports jockeys who face extraordinary adversity, and we’re proud to support their efforts.”

Nancy Lasala, PDJF President, noted, “We truly appreciate the support that Xpressbet and its customers have provided the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund in the past few years.  Every donation we receive goes directly to the support and care of disabled riders, and each donation we receive, large or small, is essential to us achieving our mission.”

Additionally, Xpressbet will soon introduce a series of videos that showcase North America’s premier riders candidly speaking about their favorite on and off-track memories.  The series, appropriately named ‘Favorites,’ will be available at Xpressbet.com and on XB-TV, Xpressbet’s Youtube channel. Each video contains a call to action from the featured jockey asking fans to lend their support to the cause by making a donation.

“Xpressbet has done an excellent job of supporting riders, both current and retired, and showcasing the hard work that goes into an afternoon of race riding.  Their support means everything to us,” added Hall of Fame jockey and Jockeys’ Guild Chairman, John Velazquez.  “We had a great time working on the ‘Favorites’ project with Xpressbet and HRTV, and we think that fans will enjoy getting to know their favorite jockeys.”
