AMERICA’S LARGEST ASIAN-THEMED NIGHT MARKET FEATURES ENTREPRENEURS DISPLAYING WIDE ARRAY OF INNOVATIVE MERCHANDISE, FOOD TRUCKS, LIVE MUSIC & CUTTING EDGE ASIAN CUISINE
ARCADIA, CA. (Aug. 10, 2017)–Santa Anita’s popular 626 Night Market, America’s largest Asian-themed night market which has already attracted more than 200,000 attendees via a pair of events earlier this summer, will return to the Great Race Place for another three-day run this Friday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 13.
The brainchild of 36-year-old entrepreneur Jonny Hwang, “626,” which began in downtown Pasadena in 2012, has been a smash hit at Santa Anita for the past five years, attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees interested in reveling in an upbeat atmosphere driven by young, innovative entrepreneurs hawking everything from arts and crafts to live music to cutting edge Asian cuisine.
“We’re excited to present a sixth season of 626 Night Markets at Santa Anita that will again showcase many favorite food vendors and new food concepts generated by entrepreneurs from our local communities,” said Hwang. “Santa Anita has been a tremendous venue for 626 and people who follow us on social media and have attended prior events, know that we provide great entertainment with lots of opportunities to interact with local vendors and have a fun time in a contemporary night market environment.”
With 203,997 attending a pair three-day events at Santa Anita in July, 626 Night Market attendance is up 20 percent over corresponding dates a year ago.
“This event has truly found a home at Santa Anita Park, in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley,” said Pete Siberell, Santa Anita Director of Special Projects. “Hundreds of thousands of people have become familiar with our beautiful and spacious grounds through 626 Night Market. In addition to the exposure we are getting, we hope many of the event attendees will be coming back to see live racing here at Santa Anita this fall and winter.”
Here’s a brief sampling of 626 customer comments, via social media: “Good food, good beer, good drinks, good vibes!” “A place where bomb food and good company collide and make for some great times.”
