STAKES WINNING SEDUIRE HEADS FIELD OF NINE FILLIES IN SATURDAY’S GRADE II, $200,000 SANTA YNEZ STAKES; HOLLENDORFER TRAINEE HAS RAIL TO CONTEND WITH AT 6 ½ FURLONGS

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2014) – Stakes winning Seduire takes on eight other newly turned 3-year-old fillies in Saturday’s Grade II, $200,000 Santa Ynez Stakes, all competing for 17 Kentucky Oaks Points, 10 to the victor.

A fifth place finisher in the Del Mar Debutante Aug. 30, Regis Racing owned Seduire will seek her first graded stakes victory in the Santa Ynez. A winner of the six furlong Golden Gate Debutante Nov. 29 the Jerry Hollendorfer trainee finished a solid second, after dueling midstretch in the six furlong Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita Oct. 12.

With two consecutive bullet works on her tab (six furlongs on Dec. 26 in 1:11.80 at Santa Anita and a six furlong drill on Dec. 20 in 1:15.20 at Golden Gate) and a new rider in Rafael Bejarano, Seduire would seem the one to beat Saturday.

The Ontario, Canadian-bred filly by Elusive Quality is 6-3-2-0 overall with earnings of $142,200.

The Mark Casse-trained Conquest Harlanate comes off a 12th place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Oct. 31 but will shorten up and switch to dirt for the first time Saturday in hopes of winning her first race in Southern California. She gains Hall of Famer Mike Smith for the first time as well.

The filly by Harlan’s Holiday has two graded stakes wins; the Grade II Natalma Stakes at a mile on a yielding turf course turf Sept. 13 and the Grade III Mazarine Stakes at 1 1/16 on the Polytrack Oct. 5, both at Woodbine.

Owned by Conquest Stables, LLC she is 5-3-0-1 overall with earnings of $269,603.

Bob Baffert’s Callback, Jeff Mullins’ Lady Lake and Rattataptap for Jeff Bonde all come off of recent maiden special weight sprint wins and will make the jump in class Saturday.
