COMPETITIVE LINE-UP INCLUDES COURSE SPECIALIST HEAVENS STAIRWAY AND BREEDERS’ CUP RUNNER, LIVING THE LIFE

ARCADIA, Calif. (April 8, 2015) – Stakes winning Go West Marie seeks her fourth consecutive win Saturday in Santa Anita’s Grade III, $100,000 Las Cienegas for fillies and mares, 4-years-old and up at 6 ½ furlongs down the unique hillside turf course.

Owned by Peter Redekop, Cal-bred Go West Marie will try to win her third in a row over the course. Never out of the money in five attempts down the hill, the late-running 4-year-old filly by Western Fame out of the Swiss Yodeler mare Marie’s Rose will retain the services of Gary Stevens and will break from post six.

Trained by Eddie Truman since late May, ‘GWM’ has never been worse than third since joining the southern California circuit except for a lone fifth place finish in her only attempt at going longer than a mile in a turf allowance race Nov. 27.

She is 18-6-1-5- overall with earnings of $462,520.

Heavens Stairway will be looking for her first added money win Saturday as she jumps up in class into her first-ever graded stakes attempt. A course specialist, she is five for seven overall down the hill dating back to Dec. 2013. Heavens Stairway ran a distant eighth to Go West Marie in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Sprint on Jan. 24 in which she stumbled at the start and again when crossing over the dirt.

Trained by Martin Jones and owned by AJM Racing, LLC and J B K Stable, the 5-year-old Cal-bred mare by Decarchy will break from the outside post with Tyler Baze, who rides back. She is 11-5-1-1 overall with earnings of $183,560.

Living The Life will attempt the downhill and turf for the first time since joining Gary Mandella’s barn in May. A perfect three for three over synthetics since racing in the U.S. she was a distant 10th to Grade I winner, Judy the Beauty in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint here at Santa Anita Nov. 1 in her only attempt at natural dirt.

The late-running 5-year-old mare by Footstepsinthesand will again be ridden by Flavien Prat. Owned by HnR Nothhaft Horse Racing LLC she is 23-8-4-2- overall with earnings of $509,594.

Graded stakes placed Blingismything will try to improve her perfect record down the hill Saturday. Though she has only raced down the unique hillside course one time in her career she has been out of the money just once in eight lifetime starts on grass. Her last two races have resulted in a second place finish in the one mile turf Megahertz Stakes and a close third in the Grade III, Buena Vista Feb. 15.

With Kent Desormeaux at Oaklawn for the Arkansas Derby Blingismything will be ridden by Elvis Trujillo for the first time in the Las Cienegas.

Owned by Class Racing Stable and trained by Eric Kruljac, she is 8-3-2-2 overall with earnings of $174,330.

The complete field for the Grade III Las Cienegas Stakes, to be run as the eighth race on a nine-race card Saturday, in post position order with jockeys and weights: Theatre Star, Drayden Van Dyke, 118; Home Journey, Rafael Bejarano, 118; Living The Life, Flavien Prat, 120; Salsita, Felipe Valdez, 118; Blingismything, Elvis Trujillo, 118; Go West Marie, Gary Stevens, 118; Unforgettable U, Edwin Maldonado, 118; Heavens Stairway, Tyler Baze, 118.
