ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 14, 2014)–For an extremely modest investment of just $16.00, one lucky fan walked home with a Pick Six jackpot of $59,808 on Friday at Santa Anita.
Initiated at Santa Anita in October of 1980, the popular $2 wager requires players to select the winners of the final six races on each day’s race card.
Friday’s Pick Six proved elusive, as not a single post time favorite graced the Winner’s Circle.
Beginning with race three, Head South, the second choice at 2-1, paid $6.20; In race four, second choice Cause Ur My Babe won and paid $9.60, with 3-2 favorite Gouyen finishing fourth; In race five, Peace and Justice, at 9-5, just lasted over the actual favorite, Di Giorgio, and paid $5.80; In race six, third choice Browsing was best at 7-2 and paid $9.80; In the seventh, Valtari, the sixth choice in a field of nine, paid $16.60, and in the eighth and final, Miss Swiss Rose, off as the fourth choice in a field of 11 at 6-1, paid $15.20 to win.
Racing resumes at Santa Anita on Saturday, with first post time for a nine-race program at 12:30 p.m. Admission gates open at 10:30 a.m.
