ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2015)–Multiple stakes winner Singing Kitty, up and coming Dreamologist, stakes placed Paulina’s Love and battle tested Majestic Heat loom prominently among a field of 10 three year old fillies in Saturday’s Grade III, $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes, to be contested at one mile over the Santa Anita turf.
Trained by Matt Chew, Singing Kitty, a California-bred daughter of Ministers Wild Cat, was claimed for $32,000 on Dec. 11 and has responded with three stakes wins from seven starts this year for her new connections, including an impressive 1 ¼ length score in her most recent out, the Unzip Me Stakes at 6 ½ furlongs down Santa Anita’s hillside turf on Sept. 26.
With two wins and a second at one mile on turf, Singing Kitty has three wins from five starts over the Santa Anita lawn and is 12-5-1-0 overall, with earnings of $320,988–$255,800 of which has been banked this year.
Singing Kitty is owned by Chris Aulds and Peter Jeong. She will retain the services of leading rider Rafael Bejarano.
A respectable third as the 3-2 favorite in what has proven to be a very productive six furlong maiden race at Del Mar July 16, trainer Richard Mandella’s Dreamologist responded with a scintillating 3 ¾ length gate to wire maiden special weight score going 1 1/8 miles on turf in only her second start on Sept. 4, and could well go favored again in the Autumn Miss.
A Kentucky-bred filly by Tapit, Dreamologist was also favored (at 9-5) in her maiden score and appears to have a bright future on several levels. Owned by LNJ Foxwoods, Dreamologist, who was ridden in both starts by the now-injured Flavien Prat, will be ridden by Mike Smith as she cuts back a furlong in distance for her first stakes engagement.
A close third in the Grade II, one mile turf San Clemente Handicap two starts back on July 19, Paulina’s Love tired late after setting the pace in the Grade I, 1 1/8 miles turf Del Mar Oaks on Aug. 15, finishing seventh, beaten four lengths. Conditioned by Richard Baltas in her last four starts, the Louisiana-bred filly by Mizzen Mast will be making her 11th career start on Saturday and will be ridden back by Tyler Baze.
Owned by KM Racing Enterprises, Inc., Paulina’s Love is 8-2-2-2 at one mile on turf and will be seeking her third overall win on Saturday. She has earnings of $128,990.
Bred in-part and trained by Barry Abrams in her first six starts, Majestic Heat, a California-bred filly by Abrams’ Unusual Heat, will make her first start for Richard Mandella. A close fifth two starts back in the Grade I Del Mar Oaks, she comes off a fourth place run, beaten 2 ¾ lengths as the 2-1 favorite, by highly regarded Gender Agenda in a one mile turf allowance on Sept. 5 at Del Mar. Owned by her co-breeder, Madeline Auerbach, Majestic Heat has a solid closing kick and will hope to have a fast pace to run at. A one mile first-out turf maiden winner at Santa Anita on Jan. 1, Majestic Heat has two wins from six starts and has earnings of $116,494. She’ll be ridden for the first time by Gary Stevens.
With all horses assigned 117 pounds, the Autumn Miss will be run as the eighth race on a nine-race card Saturday. The field, with jockeys in post position order: Majestic Heat, Gary Stevens; Hundi, Victor Espinoza; Dreamologist, Mike Smith; Belle Hill, Leslie Mawing; Princess Charm, Santiago Gonzalez; All Star Bub, James Graham; Paulina’s Love, Tyler Baze; Miss Boom Boom, Martin Garcia; Singing Kitty, Rafael Bejarano, and Suva Harbor, Fernando Perez.
