ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT LOCAL VETERANS’ MEMORIAL FUND
ARCADIA, Calif. (May 23, 2017)–Santa Anita Park will honor and thank active duty and former members of our armed forces with a Memorial Day Trackside event this Monday. In addition to a full menu of world class racing, veterans will be treated to a delicious Memorial Day Barbeque free of charge, with military-issued ID. (Complimentary lunches to active duty and former service members courtesy of a group of Santa Anita Park horse owners).
Sponsored by the Rotary Club Foundation of Arcadia, a modest five dollar donation, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Arcadia Rotary Club Veterans’ Memorial Fund, will provide those attendees with Santa Anita Park General Admission, racing program, access to special trackside seating and walking tours of the Paddock and Winner’s Circle throughout the day.
THE MEMORIAL DAY BBQ AT SANTA ANITA, AVAILABLE FOR $12, WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING
-Choice of meat, (spare ribs or pulled pork)
-Choice of two side dishes, (baked beans, potato salad or coleslaw)
-All Memorial Day BBQ meals include white bread, pickles and onions
-Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the trackside event. Racing memoribilia signed by Hall of Fame jockeys and trainers will be offered, with ALL proceeds going to the Arcadia Rotary Veterans’ Memorial Fund
The Santa Anita Memorial Day Trackside Barbeque is part of the Arcadia Rotary Club’s effort to build a local Veterans’ Memorial here in the City of Homes. The “Field of Honor Project,” involving 1,000 American flags displayed at Arcadia County Park, just east of the track, is currently on display through Memorial Day.
Those wishing to honor our veterans are encouraged to make their contributions to the Arcadia Rotary Club Foundation, Veterans’ Memorial Fund.
All of those wishing to attend Santa Anita’s Memorial Day Trackside Event will be required to make a five dollar donation to the Arcadia Rotary Veterans Fund.
