ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 3, 2015)–With a parade of longshots prevailing in the first five races on Saturday, there is a huge carryover into Sunday’s 50 cent Players’ Pick 5 of $392,388, and the expectation that Sunday’s total Pick 5 pool will exceed $2 million. The first four races proved so elusive that there were only two “live” tickets going into Saturday’s fifth race–to the favorite, Pulling G’s, who finished second to longshot Athens, who paid $62.20 to win.
The popular 50 cent Pick 5, features a low takeout of 14 percent and requires players to select the winners of the first five races each race day.
With 41 horses eligible to run in the first five races Sunday, field size is just over eight horses per race.
