LOS ANGELES MAN IS LUCKY $10,000 ‘MYSTERY MUTUEL’ WINNER AT SANTA ANITA; THOROUGHBREDS CLUB MEMBER EDWARD PINA, SR., GOES HOME A WINNER

ARCADIA, Calif. (May 17, 2014)–Santa Anita Thoroughbreds Club member Edward Pina Sr., of Los Angeles, picked up a tidy $10,000 on Saturday at Santa Anita, as he cashed a random “Mystery Mutuel” ticket voucher before the first race, which was run at 11:30 a.m.

All Santa Anita “Thoroughbreds” receive monthly mailers that include “Mystery Mutuel” offerings that are redeemed on-track only. Retired for the past six years following a career with the City of Los Angeles, Pina has been a Thoroughbreds Club member for the past eight years.

When asked what he intended to do with his winnings, Pina responded, “You’ll have to ask my wife, Terri.” He then knowingly kidded, “You’re not married yet are you?”

Pina joined Karla Kratz Terry of Hemet, California, in becoming the second Santa Anita Mystery Mutuel winner in as many months. In addition to Pina, there was one other Mystery Mutuel winner at Santa Anita on Saturday, Art Mancilla of Los Angeles, who won $1,000.

Santa Anita Thoroughbreds Club membership is free of charge and entitles members to discounted admission, newsletters, special offers and promotions, free gifts and entry into cash contests such as Santa Anita’s $15,000 Triple Crown Challenge.
