ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2015)– Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s I’malreadythere will face Alexis Barba’s Lucky Bryan as well as Janet Armstrong’s Dressed in Hermes and Bob Baffert’s Mighty Moses among a field of ten 2-year-olds Saturday going a mile on turf in the fourth running of the $100,000 Zuma Beach Stakes.
Third in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes on Sept. 5. I’malreadythere will start for only the second time as a member of the Hollendorfer barn Saturday. Previously trained by Florida-based Michael Yates, the bay gelding by Crown of Thorns was fourth in his first outing, a 4 ½ furlong maiden claiming event at Gulfstream in June. He followed that with a win on Aug. 8 going a mile on the turf in a maiden special weight at Gulfstream before shipping west to Hollendorfer.
Owned in-part by Hollendorfer along with Steve Melen, Richard Robinson and Steve Taub, I’malreadythere is 3-1-0-1 overall with earnings of $42,400.
Lucky Bryan will again be reunited with jockey Iggy Puglisi and will start from the far outside post. Fifth in his first outing on Sept. 5 at Del Mar going 5 ½ furlongs on the main track, he returned victorious on opening day of Santa Anita’s Autumn Meet in a one mile turf maiden special weight on Sept. 26.
Trainer Alexis Barba is also part owner and is the sole breeder of the Kentucky-bred Lookin At Lucky colt. Lucky Bryan is also owned by Teresa McWilliams and has $32,600 in earnings.
Armstrong’s Dressed in Hermes comes off a third in a mile turf maiden special weight at Del Mar Aug. 12 where he earned the highest Beyer Speed Figure of the Zuma Beach field. Owned and bred in Kentucky by Budget Stables, Dressed in Hermes gains Gary Stevens for Saturday and will break from the outside post nine.
The bay gelding by Hat Trick is still a maiden with earnings of $12,600.
Bob Baffert and Zayat Stables team up with Mighty Moses, a 2-year-old chestnut colt by Candy Ride who comes off a second place showing in a $50,000 maiden special weight on Sept. 11 at Los Alamitos.
Bred by Emily Wygod in Kentucky, Mighty Moses was purchased during Keeneland’s November sale in 2013 for $105,000.
