ARCADIA, Calif. (June 26, 2015)–Breaking from the rail in a field of 11 sophomores, Anytime Anyplace sat close to the pace under Drayden Van Dyke and took command a furlong out en route to a convincing 1 ¼ length win in Friday’s $58,000 allowance feature at Santa Anita. Trained by Paddy Gallagher, Anytime Anyplace covered 6 ½ furlongs down Santa Anita’s hillside turf course in 1:14.50.
“He’s a nice horse and he ran great,” said Van Dyke, who was aboard for the first time on Friday. “He could’ve run a little straighter there the last part, but he kind of jumped over to his right lead and went toward the rail with me (resulting in a stewards inquiry that involved runner-up Diamond Majesty). I tried to correct him as soon as I could though and it worked out.”
Idle since running fourth in the 1 1/8 miles turf La Puente Stakes April 18, Anytime Anyplace, who made his first start for Gallagher on Friday, was the 5-2 favorite and paid $7.20, $4.60 and $3.40. Owned by the Harlington Ferro Family Trust and Aaron Sones, the Florida-bred colt by Any Given Saturday improved his overall mark to 7-2-2-1. With the winner’s share of $34,800, he increased his earnings to $107,210.
Ridden by Flavien Prat, Diamond Majesty re-rallied after the incident and was just up for the place by a nose over longshot Lovenseek. Off at 5-1, Diamond Majesty paid $6.20 and $3.60.
Lovenseek, who was off at 12-1 with Tyler Baze, paid $7.20 to show.
Fractions on the race were 21.56, 44.29 and 1:07.98.
