CONSISTENT ONE FAST BROAD HEADS FIELD OF EIGHT IN MONDAY’S $200,000 CALIFORNIA CUP OAKS AT ONE MILE ON TURF

RACE IS PART OF GOLDEN STATE SERIES FOR CALIFORNIA-BASED OR SIRED HORSES

ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2018)–Ruis Racing’s consistent One Fast Broad heads a field of eight sophomore fillies bred or sired in California going one mile on turf in Monday’s $200,000 California Cup Oaks at Santa Anita.

Most recently second, beaten a diminishing half length by highly regarded Ippodamia’s Girl in the one mile turf Blue Norther Stakes here Dec. 31, One Fast Broad, who is trained by her owner, Mick Ruis, looms strictly the horse to beat in what will be her seventh career start.

ONE FAST BROAD

Owner:  Ruis Racing, LLC                                               Trainer:  Mick Ruis

A California-bred filly by Decarchy, she was a first-out maiden winner going six furlongs on dirt at Del Mar Aug. 4 and has been placed in stakes races in all five of her subsequent starts.  A winner of the seven furlong Golden State Juvenile Fillies Nov. 3, she then took the one mile Soviet Problem Stakes at Los Alamitos Dec. 2.  Although she was beaten, her second place finish in the Blue Norther on New Year’s Eve may’ve been her best race yet, as she rallied furiously to be beaten a half length.  By far the most accomplished Oaks entrant, One Fast Broad is 6-3-2-0 with earnings of $249,160.

X S GOLD

Owner:  Jim Cassidy & DP Racing                               Trainer:  Jim Cassidy

Lightly raced, this Golden Balls filly, who was also bred by her owners, has proven two-turn ability on grass and appears to be the second horse.  An impressive gate to wire one mile maiden turf winner two starts back on Nov. 19, she was rank early in the Dec. 31 Blue Norther and finished sixth, four lengths behind One Fast Broad.  With Rafael Bejarano up, X S Gold could well be sent to the early lead on Monday.  Out of the In Excess mare Some Excess, X S Gold will be making her fourth start.
