ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 1, 2016)–California Chrome, 2014’s Horse of the Year, will come onto Santa Anita’s main track to work six furlongs prior to Saturday’s first race at 11:45 a.m., track officials announced Friday. A winner of four Grade I stakes in 2014; the Santa Anita Derby, Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Hollywood Derby, the 5-year-old California-bred colt by Lucky Pulpit will enter the track via the quarter mile chute with regular rider Victor Espinoza up.

Idle since picking up a $2 million check for running second in the Grade I Dubai World Cup March 28, “Chrome” will make his 19th career start for trainer Art Sherman in the San Pasqual. With nine overall wins to his credit, he has career earnings of $6,322,650.
