Handicapping Picks for 03/08/2012

Race #7 - Rating = 2
#3 Mizzen Donald - Fair odds 5/2
#5 Caelis - Fair odds 5/2
#1 Triveni - Fair odds 5/2

For pick and 4 tickets played, try to use “ALL” eight.

Mizzen Donald finished very well to miss by a half-length at the wire last out after stretching out from sprints and if able to transfer that form to turf, which she should as she finished 2nd in 2 of those three sprints, all on turf, she can win. Caelis stretched out last out as the top pick is doing today, in her 2nd start in the U.S. and 2nd coming off a 2 ½ month layoff, the result being a fine 2nd place effort on this course to highly regarded (and likely future stakes winner) Rosehill Dew, so with logical 3rd off the layoff improvement looming she could be very tough there. Triveni makes her U.S. debut and comes back from 4 ½ months off, the filly having run well just once in 7 prior races, in France, but in three of them facing stakes competition that gives her a class edge. With Blanc and the rail for a rock solid trainer in Callaghan, if she’s ready to race in the U.S. she has potential to show us something special today.
