Handicapping Picks for 03/02/2012

Race #7 - Rating = 2
#3 Sayif - Fair odds 5/2
#1 Red Defense - Fair odds 5/2

Exactas: 1,3 over 1,2,3 (#2 is Leroy’s Dynameaux, 1 for 14 in the past 14 months)

Sayif goes long 2nd off a 5 month rest, having battled through 22 and 44.2 fractions in his comeback downhill sprint on 2/9. The last time he stretched out to two turns was last July, 2nd off a layoff as well, and he wired the field with ease in that one, so I’m expecting him to lead early and never look back today with the temporary rail out 24 feet to benefit front runners such as him as well, and noting the both of trainer Biancone’s winners at the meeting came with Lenclud in the saddle as today. Red Defense also stretches out from a sprint and should be in a great stalking position so if the top pick can’t go all the way he’s most likely to pick up the pieces after finishing 3rd last out in a Cal-Bred stakes down the hill and having won nicely two before that on the turf at the one lower NW2X allowance condition.
