Let’s Do It was coming back from 8 months off on 1/14 and making his 1st start since switching to the O’Neill barn when in a turf sprint he finished 8th, making up nearly 10 lengths from where he was at the start to the end. Stretching out to two turns, where he has earned all 3 of his career wins, including the last time he went from short to long, he’s got a fine shot to post the upset today opening at 8 to 1. Megastar also opens at odds worth the risk, 6/1 to start, having earned 2 of his 3 career wins on turf and having beaten tougher optional 62,500 claimers one before last in a route with Talamo up as today, so with recent top form to return to at any time. Times Gone By and Matto Mondo are certainly contenders but their likely low odds pale compared to the first two. Times Gone By won nicely versus similar on the SA turf in October and has finished 2nd and 3rd since, with good workouts for his first start in 2 months, while Matto Mondo goes for his 3rd straight win on the SA turf, running first off the claim by Asmussen, who has been pretty cold at the meeting with a 3 for 29 record. Just the same, the gelding loves to win (9 for 17 on turf) and must be respected when considering wagers we make involving this race.
