Red Sharp Humor stretches out to a mile on turf off a strong turf sprint prep (4th of 7, beaten 3 ¾ lengths) 2nd off a layoff, all signs pointing to a top effort, considering that the last time he stretched out was in August against much tougher, the gelding finishing a fine 2nd in that race. With Rosario staying aboard being another good sign for improvement he gets slight preference among three that can win the opener. Wild Revenge is strictly a trainer play, claimed by Canani at the 16K level out of a 4th place effort in a main track route on 11/17, rested nearly 3 months, returning on 2/4 in a turf sprint at the 25K level, finishing 9th, and not coming back on 5 days rest and raised to the 35K level while stretching out. Considering the gelding’s two wins have come around two turns, one on turf, and considering that the only other time Canani wheeled a horse back in under a week in the past year it won, I cannot discount this one’s chances. Floating Feather ran big on the jump up in class from 12,500 to 32K last out following the Lopez claim, finishing 2nd in a turf sprint, having won 2 in a row before that, and having won a turf route previously and with good form likely to continue he rounds out our trio of contenders in the opener.
