Handicapping Picks for 10/08/2011

Race #3 - Rating = 3
#5 Imperial Pride - Fair odds 9/5

Exacta: Box 5,1

#1 Private Bounty has been 2nd in 4 straight, all at this non-winners of 2 level, and even though he did have an excuse last out when blocked and steadied late he didn’t really have any excuses in the three races prior to that, two as the favorite, so I’m taking a stand against him except for the exacta. Imperial Pride sticks out here in a field in which most, like Private Bounty, are multiple losers at the level and have lost many times since their one win. Imperial Pride won his most recent start, in August, his 2nd after coming back from 14 months off, and so he’s got improving to do, as well as he may find himself all alone on the lead today from the start and never look back, although he can also win from just off the pace.
