Racing News

ARCADIA, Calif. (May 6, 2012)—I’ll Have Another, winner of the Grade I Santa Anita Derby on April 7, electrified the racing world by winning the world’s most famous race, the Kentucky Derby, on Saturday. Owned by Paul and Zillah Reddam, trained by Doug O’Neill and ridden by Mario Gutierrez, I’ll Have Another ran down pace setting favorite Bodemeister to win by 1 ½ lengths while paying $32.60 to win. He got the 1 ¼ miles in 2:01.83.

At the behest of O’Neill’s brother, Dennis, Reddam purchased the colt for $35,000 at a 2-year-old in training sale in Ocala, Fla., in April of 2011.

Prior to winning the Santa Anita Derby at 4-1, I’ll Have Another won Santa Anita’s Grade II Robert B. Lewis Stakes on Feb. 4 at odds of 43-1.
