The first three races on the 10-race program look fairly chalky. In the opener, #2 Kaffeinator isn’t one to trust but might finally have found a field he can beat. He’s 2-1 on the morning line, so there’s no value. In the 2nd race, #1 Turk is 4/5 on the morning line and he’s the only entrant with a prior race. The first timers haven’t been overly impressive in the morning so he looks like another short priced winner. In the 3rd race, #8 Tuscan Evening cruised to a maiden win down the hill in her U.S. debut and should be odds-on to repeat.
We don’t have much to work with in the early Daily Double. Class dropping #4 Brendolyn should be odds-on in the opener and if she’s half right she’ll be hard to beat. #2 Shebang has run well over the course in the past and if the favorite doesn’t fire, she’s the logical beneficiary. In the 2nd race, both #2 Ditto This and #6 Dances With Tigers are racing in good from and it would be somewhat of a surprise if the winner wasn’t one of those two. Not much value, though.
We’ve got a 2-day Pick-6 carryover to attack today and it’s estimated that the pool with reach $3 million. Let’s dive in.
We have another Pick-6 Carryover Wednesday - $169,419 in the pool as we kick things off – and the card is typically deep and challenging. We’ll pass the early Daily Double that presents little wagering value and kick things off with the 3rd race.
1. Dunkirk 2. Pioneerof the Nile 3. OId Fashioned 4. Friesan Fire 5. Desert Party 6. Midshipman 7. The Pamplemouuse 8. Stardom Bound 9. Capt. Candyman Can 10. Patena
Today’s early Daily Double doesn’t look all that enticing. In the 1st race, #2 You Is What You Is probably will be a short price but he hasn’t won since last June and seemed a little sluggish in his last race. He certainly could win, but there’s no value here. The 2nd race sees #5 Lady Lumberjack returning to the maiden ranks and shortening up to a sprint after finishing a respectable fourth in the Santa Ysabel Stakes. Any one of her three lifetime starts probably would be good enough to beat this field, but she’s also likely to be even money or less. Pass.
